10-Ulduar on the Paladin: Night 2

Last night, I took my paladin to Ulduar, as blogged – and pretty much destroyed it. Hodir down, Auriaya down…all that good stuff. Only stuff we left up was Iron Council and Ignis.

Tonight, we again did not have enough people to hit 25-Ulduar up, so we reformed our 10-man group from last night. Unfortunately the mage doesn’t get to go as he was saved to a different run, but I am still rockin’ my paladin. We downed Thorim in about 4 attempts, and that’s something I’ve never done on the mage, on 10 or 25. Did alright on Freya too; didn’t kill her, but definitely got some rather good raiding experience, which was great!

I’m really enjoying my paladin. Tanking’s a blast, and having a chance to tank progression is extremely awesome.

And FL-10 +2 again!

8:00 – Remember my last post about that? Yeah, I just killed FL+2 10-man on my alt paladin. This is my first time in Ulduar on her, so I’m excited to see how things go! I’m about to offtank XT, which should be fun – then to Razorscale!

10:30 – I’ve successfully OT’d all the way up through our Hodir kill. Yay! On the way to Thorim now. Can’t wait to head that way – if we kill it it will be a guild first, and it’d be weird…but at the same time very awesome…to kill him on my paladin.

Flame Leviathan, and other fun stuff.

Cloudy Day just finished its 3rd attempt on Flame Lev +2 towers. We got him to 5% or less on the first 2 tries, but couldn’t close it out unfortunately. We were able to do it on 10-man on Tuesday, though.

Ah well, onwards into the instance – just downed him with +1. Meh.

On another note, remember how I was talking about getting my Argent Dawn rep up? Yeah, that totally didn’t happen. I got sucked into doing Netherwing quests – still using a Swift Green Wind Rider, so I’m trying to fix that now. Hoping to get it in the next week, depending on how things go with my work schedule. That thing looks so awesome. =) Just gotta farm eggs all day.

Curiosity…

I’ve been wondering for a while about switching over to Fireball from my current slushbolt spec. I’ve heard it’s about 6% more DPS, but the decreased mana efficiency scares me, especially in 10-mans. Plus, Slushbolt got me around 5200, 5300 on XT-002 10-man tonight, and I don’t know whether I want to give up a good thing. I looked around Elitist Jerks a bit, but couldn’t find any specific comparative numbers. Rawr says my DPS would go up by, like, 6-7%, but I’m still leery of mana issues. Any mages out there have some recent theorycraft data?

In other news, I got a really nice chest off of Auriaya 10-man today (replacing my Maly-10 chest in my FFB set), plus a few achievements. I think I’m at 5390 AchP now, but not entirely sure. Pretty exciting stuff. Unfortunately, I’m even more overcapped on hit now – to the point where I am still capped when I put on my FrR gear for Hodir attempts, as long as we have an oomkin or spriest. I absolutely need to work on that…but there’s not much I can do right now.

I never did get around to Stratholme. Maybe later this week, I guess.

I’m also thinking about moving the druid over to Doomhammer to play as a social with some RL friends over there. If any of my readers are over on Doomhammer let me know, I’ll send ya a tell when I get there!

Enough of this madness!

I’ve decided to finally just buckle down and grind out some Argent Dawn rep. It’s been in the back of my mind for MONTHS now after I got my Argent Crusade rep to Exalted, as I do want a title. (That’d make 10 titles for me! Yippee!) Therefore…Stratholme time today, I suppose. Hopefully it’s not too bad – I haven’t been in there for a couple months, so I barely even remember it. If I’m lucky I might get Baron’s mount too!

That said, server maintenance is still going on for something like an hour and a half, so I’ve got some time to waste. Off to unpack from college (which I should have done almost a month ago)!

I’m actually posting this during raid…heh heh…

Erm, anyway, yeah. We tried Freya a few times before moving to Hodir – and then we one-shot him. It was great =) We’re on break now, and going to Thorim after. Should be nice – I’m hoping that we down him. Planning for Vault later tonight, too, so if things go well I MIGHT get my 2-set T8 bonus. Fairly excited.

Work’s still keeping me VERY busy, wish I could post more. Until I quit, I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to post. Can’t wait for August…
