I mentioned in my last post that I was looking to start PvP. With that in mind, and also noting that I am terrible at playing Frost PvP, I put together my own Arcane PvP build. Been winning a lot of duels with it, but I haven’t seen how it stands up in arenas yet. Read on for details.
Just far enough in the Fire tree to pick up 2/2 Burning Determination, which is rather sexy for stuff like Arcane Torrent or other short interrupts/silences. This provides a nice synergy with deep-Arcane talents like Missile Barrage (I know a few Arcane PvP’ers who don’t pick that one up simply because of RNG/interrupts).
I didn’t take Incanter’s Absorption, although I probably should have – however, there really isn’t much that I can get rid of. The Arcane tree is simply overstuffed with goodies for PvE *and* PvP, and there’s no way of picking them all up. That said, 800 resilience does tend to make up for not popping Mana Shield.
I picked up all of the damage-boost talents because my 5′s team is a 4dps 1heal comp, meaning we do have to burn stuff fast. We did alright our first night, winning about half of our games – I think we definitely have a shot at 1700 this season with that team.
Also, I picked up a couple talents such as Magic Absorption and Arcane Fortitude – with both of those, I get a little more survivability, plus I can pick and choose my armor based on the opposing team’s comp with a little more freedom since they provide innate buffs to resists and armor. Keep Magic Absorption, but take the points out of Arcane Fortitude as described later.
Any PvPers out there have suggestions?
…edit: new talent build is up. Changes: Arcane Fortitude is gone, as is a point in Meditation. All three have been moved to Incanter’s Absorption. That said, I don’t recommend using, say, Mana Shield to get Absorption going – it’ll work with a Disc priest’s bubbles, though, as repgrind pointed out.
